Harris Group launches dedicated rental business

The Harris Group has launched a new dedicated commercial vehicle rental business for its Maxus, Higer, Isuzu and its newly-added Sinotruk HGV brand.

The group said Harris Rentals has been created in response to growing demand from commercial vehicle customers for “greater flexibility, reliable fleet support and access to modern vehicles without the commitment of outright ownership”.

It said the business will focus primarily on rental periods of several months and upwards, while retaining the flexibility to offer daily and weekly options.

Mike Williams

The business will operate from a number of locations across Ireland and the UK, supported by the wider Harris Group dealer network.

Harris Rentals is being headed-up by Mike Williams, who has been appointed as managing director.

Williams spent 40 years with Dawson Group, where he helped develop its rental business from a small operation into a nationwide commercial vehicle and equipment rental business. His CV also includes roles at Hertz, Avis and Hireco.

“The market is ready for a substantial new entrant that has the OEM-scale backing and support to offer a full range of products,” he said.

“Customers are becoming more demanding than ever; they’re looking for service, reliability and support, rather than simply a competitive price.”

The Harris Group will be displaying its LCV range at the inaugural 271 Vans for Business EXPO, which takes place in conjunction with the 2026 CV Workshop EXPO at the RDS Simmonscourt from 10th-11th October.
