Harris Group brings China’s Sinotruk brand to Ireland

The Harris Group has announced a long-term distribution partnership with Sinotruk, China’s largest heavy truck manufacturer, that will initially see 7.5-tonne Sitrak models launched across Ireland and the UK from March 2027.

The agreement gives the Harris Group exclusive rights to import and distribute Sinotruk multi-axle, distribution and tractor vehicles.

Fully-electric and Euro-6 Sitrak-branded 7.5-tonne GVW models hit Irish roads next March

Customer deliveries are expected to begin in March 2027 with new Euro-6 and fully-electric Sitrak 7.5-tonne models, followed by a phased introduction of 4×2 middleweight distribution models, an 8×4 rigid and a 4×2 tractor unit.

The Sinotruk range will include both Euro-6 and fully electric powertrains, offering operators a comprehensive choice across multiple applications, weight categories and duty cycles.

Through the newly created Harris Sinotruk subsidiary, the Harris Group said a nationwide dealer and aftersales network is being established ahead of launch.

While Sinotruk becomes the Group’s dedicated truck brand, it said it remains focused on the light commercial vehicle sector through its Maxus van brand, and indeed its Isuzu pick-up offering.

Chief executive Brian Patterson, said the partnership with Sinotruk is an important part of the Harris Group’s strategy of becoming a €1 billion annual revenue business by 2030.

“Our ambition goes well beyond launching another truck brand. We are building a long-term truck business with a nationwide dealer network, strong parts availability, technical expertise and comprehensive aftersales support from the outset.

“We are investing for growth and creating a broader commercial vehicle group capable of serving customers from light commercial vehicles through to heavy trucks,” he added.

Sinotruk was founded in 1956 and is headquartered in Jinan, located in the Shandong province of China. In 2025, it reportedly sold approximately 305,000 heavy trucks and exported more than 150,000 vehicles to over 150 countries and regions.
