Modul-System trialling AI-powered vehicle layout analysis
Van racking and shelving provider Modul-System is set to trial a new AI-powered vehicle workspace optimisation system to help improve van layouts, ergonomics and productivity.
Utility firm SGN will be the first operator to trial the ‘Modul Workspace Intelligence’ technology in live service.

According to Modul-System, the technology combines data from a temporary AI camera installed in a vehicle with operational job-card information to assess how engineers use the load space during a typical working day.
The camera is fitted for a two-week audit and is designed to analyse workspace performance rather than employee behaviour.
Modul-System said the system identifies which tools are used most frequently, highlights redundant equipment and storage, and pinpoints opportunities to improve ergonomics, reduce unnecessary movement and remove excess weight.
Following the audit, the equipment is removed and Modul-System produces a report recommending changes to the vehicle layout based on actual operating patterns.
