IRHA highlights importance of vehicle walk-around checks
The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) is currently highlighting the importance of vehicle walk-around safety checks to its members.
Vehicle walk-around checks are one of the simplest, but most important, parts of transport compliance.

Daily checks help identify issues before vehicles head out on the road and play an important role in road safety, vehicle maintenance and compliance.
Under road transport legislation, operators and drivers have clear responsibilities to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and safe to operate.
Just as importantly, properly recorded walk-around checks help demonstrate a strong compliance culture within a transport operation.
As compliance requirements continue evolving, it’s important to stay up to date with your obligations.
If members would like guidance around walkaround checks, operator responsibilities or transport compliance best practice, the IRHA team says that it is there to help. Email them on: info@irha.ie or telephone them on: +353 180 13380.
Drivers get Driver CPC reminder
Meanwhile, the IRHA is also reminding drivers that they need to keep their Driver CPC up to date. Professional truck drivers in Ireland must complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years (that’s seven hours per year) with an RSA-approved training provider.
Miss your deadline and you’re no longer legally qualified to drive professionally. If you’re not sure where you stand, or need guidance on the type of training you need, get in touch with the IRHA team (see their contact details above).
