Daimler opens truck and bus remanufacturing logistics hub
Daimler Buses has opened a remanufacturing logistics centre at its Neu-Ulm plant in Germany, handling replacement parts for both truck and bus operations.
Used components such as engines and transmissions are received at the new Reman Core Consolidation Centre, inspected by specialists and forwarded to Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses plants in Germany or to suppliers for remanufacturing.
The process involves disassembly, cleaning, reconditioning and reassembly with new wear parts.
Remanufacturing forms part of Daimler Truck’s circular economy strategy, which focuses on component reuse, waste reduction and extending product lifecycles.
The Neu-Ulm site employs around 3,800 people and serves as the competence centre for Mercedes-Benz and Setra coach production.
