New Generation DAF XF wins Fleet Truck of the Year

DAF Trucks is celebrating another notable milestone after its New Generation DAF XF tractor unit range was named Fleet Truck of the Year at the 2025 Motor Transport Awards in the UK.

The award was heavily influenced by the DAF XF’s “outstanding fuel efficiency”, with one judging-operator noting a 7–8 per cent higher fuel efficiency over competitors.

DAF’s latest vehicles feature optimised drivelines, aerodynamic refinements and advanced driver assistance systems, contributing to industry-leading quality and efficiency.

The Fleet Truck of the Year judging panel, which is made up of fleet operators, praised the DAF XF for its exceptional real-world performance and operator appeal. The panel cited the XF’s excellent visibility, comfortable cab and solid build quality – all of which make it a standout choice for fleets.

“There’s a reason it’s the backbone of so many fleets,” commented one judge. “It’s consistent, it’s practical and dependable, and the drivers actually want to be on them.” Another judge also commented, “It’s doing 10.8mpg in real-world conditions. For a big fleet truck, that’s excellent.”

In terms of aftersales support, the DAF Dealer network also drew particular praise, and especially the company’s DAFaid roadside assistance service which continues to deliver outstanding levels of uptime for customers. “DAFaid is one of the best in the business,” remarked one of the judges, “It gives operators peace-of-mind that if something does go wrong, they’ll be back on the road quickly.”
