Start your career in the motor trade and auto industry at TU Dublin Bolton Street

If you know a young person that is looking to pursue a career in the motor industry but doesn’t know quite where to start, there’s still time to register for the Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Automotive Management and Technology course for the 2025 / 2026 academic year at TU Dublin Bolton Street.

Joe Clarke, head of Automotive Technology and Management – School of Transport & Civil Engineering, TU Dublin commented: “This is a three-year full-time Level 7 Degree Programme which prepares students for a career in the automotive industry.

“The Motor Industry has seen huge growth over the past number of years. This Level 7 course prepares students for a career in this exciting and dynamic industry. It is suited to those enthusiastic about vehicles and the motor industry.”

He added: “The course prepares students for employment in companies ranging from multi-brand franchise vehicle dealerships to, small body repair workshops and specialist repairers or sales outlets.”

The course is tailored to prepare graduates to perform in such an environment by ensuring that the principles and applications of management, business and technology are all covered in order to provide a solid foundation for a career in the automotive industry.

Modules range from:

E Mobility and Advanced Driver Assistance systems, Automotive Technology, Management, Automotive Workshop Practice, Automotive Service and Repair Operations, Bodyshop Management, Engine Technology, Sales Operations, Parts Operations, Automotive Science, Electrical Systems, Motor Trade Law/Legislation and Information Technology, HRM & Communications.

Students also undertake a project as part of the final year.

Passes in five subjects in the Irish Leaving Certificate, including O6/H7 in Mathematics and English or Irish, or a qualification that the Institute deems equivalent is acceptable.

Mature Applicants i.e. those who are at least 23 years of age on or before 1st January of the year of entry may apply to join the degree programme.

These applications will be considered on an individual basis with consideration of both certified and experiential learning. This includes but is not limited to academic qualifications, work experience, motivation, and the overall potential to succeed on the programme of study and further evaluation may be by means of an interview.

Applicants who wish to be considered for Advanced Entry must be currently studying, completing, or have successfully completed, studies at Level 6, 7 or 8 in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or an equivalent, in a related area.

You must demonstrate by providing transcripts of results that you have achieved the learning outcomes for each stage you wish to advance past, for example:

• To enter Year 2 via Advanced Entry, you must demonstrate that you have met all the learning outcomes for Year 1.
• For entry to Year 3, you must demonstrate that you have met all the learning outcomes for Years 1 and 2.
