LCV sales up over 25pc in 2023
A total of 29,403 new light commercial vehicles (LCV) were registered in 2023, a 25.1 per cent increase compared to 2022 (23,510) and a 16.1 per cent increase on pre-pandemic 2019 (25,336), according to figures released today by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
New heavy commercial vehicle (HGV) registrations enjoyed an increase of 20.4 per cent (2,655) in comparison to 2022 (2,205) and 19.9 per cent on 2019 (2,214).
Ford ended the year as Ireland’s best-selling LCV maker, with 6,780 units sold. Its Transit Connect, Transit van and Transit Custom were all amongst the highest sellers last year. The Renault Master was the top selling van of 2023 (2,044).
Scania (704), Volvo (573), DAF (446), Renault (336) and Mercedes-Benz (335) were the top five best-selling truck makers of 2023.
