CPT and Eminox embark on supercharging collaboration

British-based companies Controlled Power Technology (CPT) and Eminox have teamed up to develop electric supercharging solutions for heavy duty commercial and passenger vehicles.

CPT is a developer of automotive technology focused on the electrification of internal combustion engines, and Eminox is a leading European manufacturer of exhaust gas control systems for heavy duty diesel vehicles.

By combining CPT’s electric supercharger with Eminox’s SCRT emissions technology, which itself combines CRT (continuously regenerating trap) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) devices, to reduce emissions of vehicles already in service, the companies plan to demonstrate a solution able to achieve Euro-6 emissions standards and fuel economy improvements.

CPT Chief Executive Nick Pascoe said, “Following the successful industrialisation by Valeo of our VTES compressor technology for light duty vehicles, now being progressively introduced by European carmakers in their latest models, we are confident that this MoU with Eminox will lead to early adoption of the technology in the heavy duty sector, starting with its retrofit for trucks and buses.”

Eminox Sales and Marketing Director Jog Lall added, “As well as gaining field experience with the technology, our aim is to communicate the effectiveness of reducing emissions by combining CPT’s switched reluctance compressor with our well established SCRT after-treatment solution.
“We believe this can bring Euro-4 and -5 vehicles up to Euro-6 requirements and meet Low Emission Zone and Ultra Low Emission Zone standards across Europe, whilst also offering savings on fuel.”
