Warrantywise publishes first used van reliability index
Vans have joined the Warrantywise Reliability Index for the first time, extending the company’s proprietary repair request data to used light commercial vehicles.
The Fiat Doblo was named the most reliable used van in the UK, topping the company’s list of the Top 5 Most Reliable Used Vans for 2026 with a score of 68.2/100.
This is followed by the Renault Kangoo on 66.2 and the Citreën Berlingo on 64.2. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter scores 58.4, while the Volkswagen Caddy completes the Top 5 on 56.9.

The Reliability Index draws on repair-request data from Warrantywise’s extended warranty plans, offering insight into the reliability of used vehicles within its dataset.
The index has been extended to vans for the first time, giving tradespeople and small businesses, for whom a van off the road can mean missed jobs, delayed deliveries and disrupted schedules, the same real-world view of reliability, drawn from Warrantywise’s proprietary repair request data and its established scoring methodology.
Each model’s Reliability Index score is calculated from Warrantywise repair request data, recorded between July 2023 and July 2026, taking into account how often repairs are requested, the average age and mileage of the vehicle at the time of the repair, plus the labour time involved.
To be included, a van model must have a minimum of 150 examples on plan, aged between three and 15 years old.
Antony Diggins, managing director at Warrantywise, said: “A key takeaway for van owners is that a high score is not a guarantee. Even among the highest-scoring vans, we see individual repair requests considerably higher than the average requested amount, which is why reliability and repair severity should be considered separately.
“A Reliability Index score is a useful starting point, but it works best alongside a thorough inspection and a full-service history, because every used van is different, and no score can tell you everything about the one in front of you.”
