Scania opens new learning academy in Milton Keynes
Scania has opened a new UK training academy in Milton Keynes as it prepares to close its Loughborough facility after 26 years of service to apprentices and technical training operations.

The new facility spans more than 3,000 square metres and can accommodate up to 140 training delegates at a time.
It will be used for all of Scania’s training in the UK, including its apprenticeship programme, technical, leadership, commercial and health and safety training.
The main workshop features three inspection lanes, including a 22-metre inspection pit. There’s also a 3.2-tonne over gantry crane and a dedicated DSEAR gas bay, which Scania says has been fitted with the latest equipment to make accessing and training on petro-chemical tankers as safe as possible.
To cater for delegates working on engines, there is a ground anchor system which can secure 16 engines for learners to work on at a time.

Scania said there are eight dedicated classrooms split over two floors, an additional two meeting spaces, a flexible meeting space and a café, plus areas to relax.
The site has also been prepared for electric vehicle charging, with four 22kW car chargers and one 250kW truck charger installed, with future energy provision for new and faster chargers already acquired.
There are solar panels fitted on the roof, a heat pump and underfloor heating for the workshop, while managed LED lighting has been used throughout the building.
Scania said the training centre has also been specially designed to be accessible by all delegates visiting the site.
