Fuel excise duty to be phased out from November

The government is to extend the excise duty cuts on petrol and diesel from November to the end of February.

The current cuts will remain in place until 1st November, at which point the price at the pump will rise by 10 cent per litre for diesel and eight cent for petrol, when the NORA levy is restored.

The diesel rebate scheme for hauliers will also be extended until the end of December.
