FleetCheck and VDO to launch new digital tacho infringement function

A function that promises to digitally streamline the handling of tachograph infringements will be launched by FleetCheck and VDO at this year’s Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Conference.

The new capability, unveiled for the first time at the event on 29th September at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, expands upon existing integrations between platforms offered by both companies.

It will be initially introduced in the UK, with scope to expand across Europe.

Now, if VDO’s Tachograph Management software records an infringement, such as contravening driver hours regulations, a record appears in the vehicle operator’s FleetCheck system.

An infringement notice is also sent to the driver responsible through the FleetCheck app, who uses it to digitally acknowledge, sign, and return.

Further developments planned for the near future will mean this activity can also be reviewed on a new dashboard, detailing all infringements occurring across the fleet, and providing insight into where, when, why and to who they are happening.

Barrie Wilson, strategic relationship manager at FleetCheck, said: “Existing tacho infringement processes are often paper or e-mail based, and are slow, messy and prone to error. Through our links with VDO, we’ve been able to make the process faster, easier and more accurate.

“It’s an innovation that will create savings in administration for fleets and drivers, as well as making compliance record keeping more exact. Really, it’s an all-round win, especially for the two dozen major truck operators who are already customers of both FleetCheck and VDO.”

This is a really useful enhancement for vehicle operators and further proof of the value of our integration with FleetCheck.”

The original FleetCheck-VDO integration was introduced last year to provide fleets with the ability to access all their compliance information through a single sign-on, including driver reporting from the FleetCheck app such as pre-use checks, licence verification, document sharing and collision reporting.
