Mitsubishi Fuso achieves carbon neutrality at Japanese production sites

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has achieved carbon neutrality across its four Japanese production facilities for 2025, meeting a previously stated target.

The manufacturer said the result was achieved through renewable energy procurement, on-site solar generation, and carbon credits purchased to offset residual emissions.

The certified status covers the Kawasaki Plant, Nakatsu Plant, Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing in Toyama, and PABCO’s Sagami Plant.

According to MFTBC, CO₂ emissions at the Kawasaki and Nakatsu plants had already been cut by more than 20 per cent against 2015 levels before both switched to renewable electricity in 2022.

The 2022 Kawasaki expansion also added around 14,000 m² of solar photovoltaic panels. MFTBC holds ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications for environmental and energy management across its production network.

Throughout 2025 and into the first quarter of 2026, residual emissions were compensated through certified carbon credits after reductions at source.

From April 2026 onward, MFTBC says carbon neutrality will be maintained through continued reduction activity.
