DAF starts production of XG Electric and XG⁺ Electric

DAF has started series production of the XG Electric and XG+ Electric, with the first truck, a XG+ tractor with 350 kW/480 hp, set to be delivered to German logistics service provider Hellmold & Plank.

DAF offers a complete series of EV-trucks, which ranges up from a 12 tonne XB Electric for city distribution up to the XG and XG+ Electric for longer haul applications. The XG Electric and XG+ Electric share their DNA with the XD and XF Electric trucks, jointly voted ‘International Truck of the Year 2026’.

The commissioning of the new XG+ Electric is a next milestone in the growing DAF Electric truck fleet of Hellmold & Plank from Gießen. The logistics service provider already deploys various zero-emission DAF vehicle models across a wide range of applications, such as shuttle transport and the supply of drugstores.

The family-owned company, which has been in business for 122 years, also uses PACCAR charging equipment to benefit from DAF’s zero-emission transport solutions.

The XG and XG+ Electric are designed for longer-distance transport. The vehicles feature a spacious cab with volumes up to 12.5 m3, while the aerodynamic cab design is said to contribute to optimal vehicle efficiency.

The XG Electric and XG+ Electric are available in multiple chassis configurations and feature the highly efficient PACCAR EX-D2 electric powertrain, delivering outputs from 270 to 350 kW (370 to 480 hp) and a maximum torque of 2,400 Nm. The driveline is powered by up to five lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery packs, mounted modularly on the chassis.

Depending on the application, ‘zero-emission ranges’ of over 500 kilometres are claimed to be possible.

“The start of production of the XG Electric and XG+ Electric, underlines our commitment to offering zero-emission solutions across a broad range of applications”, stated Harald Seidel, president of DAF Trucks. “Customers such as Hellmold & Plank demonstrate that our electric trucks are delivering strong efficiency and sustainable performances in everyday logistics operations.”
