BPW launches seven-tonne swing axle
Running gear systems manufacturer, BPW has launched its new seven-tonne swing axle for use in heavy-duty low-loaders, semi-trailers or semi-low-loaders.
The new swing axle enables the safe transport of particularly heavy or bulky goods such as construction and mining machinery, large transformers, industrial plants and components of the wind power industry, for example for rotor blades, tower segments or generators.

The seven-tonne swing axle combines high load capacity with compact dimensions and low dead weight. This creates more design freedom for low-loader vehicle manufacturers.
BPW says the use of state-of-the-art large-scale production technology also achieves a weight saving of up to five kilograms per axle compared to other solutions on the market and around 24 kilograms compared to the previous model.
The maintenance-friendly design also reduces operating costs: the BPW ECO Drum drum brake with a large pad volume is used in the seven-tonne swing axle. The tried-and-tested C-clamp technology simplifies service, and the wheel bearing is maintenance-free.
According to BPW, its new swing axle can be used as a six-tonne axle with 17.5-inch single tyres as well as a seven-tonne axle with 19.5-inch single tyres. This corresponds to a line axle load of 12- or 14-tonnes and enables optimum adaptation to different requirements in the transport sector.
BPW’s new seven-tonne swing axle comes with a warranty of 800,000km or six years in on-road operation.
