Textar launches DOT5.1 Ultimate brake fluid

TMD Friction’s OE braking brand, Textar, has launched its new brake fluid DOT5.1 Ultimate, which features an improved formula for optimal performance and was specifically developed to meet the demands of even the toughest driving applications.

It is suitable for a wide variety of braking systems and vehicle segments, including light commercial vehicles (LCVs), electric vehicles (EVs) and high-performance vehicles.

Stephan Giesecke, global category manager PC, said: “Our improved DOT5.1 Ultimate brake fluid is for drivers who demand the best – without compromise. Thanks to its advanced formulation, we can ensure trusted safety and top-tier performance, even for heavier vehicles or those operating at high speeds. Its compatibility with electric vehicles in particular makes Textar well-prepared for the future.”

The DOT5.1 Ultimate brake fluid is characterised by a very high dry boiling point of at least 260°C and a wet boiling point of 180°C or higher. It has low electric conductivity, which reduces galvanic corrosion and offers outstanding lubrication properties.

With its low viscosity, even at low temperatures, it meets ISO 4925 Class 6 and Class 7 standards. Additionally, it meets and exceeds almost any specification, including DOT 5.1 and DOT 4LV, making it widely applicable for a variety of uses.

The DOT5.1 Ultimate brake fluid delivers various benefits for vehicles in nearly every segment – even for EVs and hybrid-electric vehicles, which tend to weigh more, and high-performance vehicles, which demand quick response times.

Giesecke added: “The weight of cars is trending upwards as more EVs and SUVs are on the roads. EVs are heavy and have a high power output. Our DOT 5.1 Ultimate brake fluid is perfectly suited to cope with this demanding situation, so drivers can trust it will work – especially when it counts.”

The DOT5.1 Ultimate brake fluid is also well-suited for vehicles equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), especially Electronic Stability Programs/Anti-lock Braking Systems (ESP/ABS) with anti-slip regulation (ASR), as its low viscosity ensures that the precise system action will be transferred accurately to the brake.

These same qualities also ensure excellent performance when braking from high speeds and in other high-performance driving situations, according to Textar.
