Tom Murphy receives Special Recognition Award from SIMI

Tom Murphy, owner of Tom Murphy Car Sales in Co Waterford, was last week presented with a ‘Special Recognition Award’ by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) in recognition of his more than 60-year career in the motor industry.

As SIMI president in 1999/2000, Murphy established the Society’s careers service to attract young talent to the motor industry, a mission he continues to champion today.

Presented with the award by Brian Cooke, SIMI director general and Jonathan Meade, SIMI president, the Society said Murphy’s passion for promoting apprenticeships has inspired the next generation of skilled professionals. He remains a valued trustee of SIMI.
