Renault reveals future range of small electric vans

Renault has revealed its future range of fully-electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which it says are flexible and scalable, and built around the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) architecture developed by Ampere.

The new ‘Estafette’, ‘Goelette’ and ‘Trafic’ E-Tech electric vans are the result of a collaboration with Flexis, the independent company founded by Renault Group, Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group.

Developed to meet a full range of business requirements, the three vehicles will be built in France at the Sandouville plant, and are set to arrive on the European market from 2026.

Further details, such as driving range, powertrains, and pricing, will be revealed in the coming months.

According to Renault, the SDV architecture represents a significant advance in the design of intelligent vehicles, offering flexibility, ergonomics and connectivity, with “virtually infinite possibilities for customisation and reduced running costs, while guaranteeing high levels of safety and performance”.

Renault’s new range of LCVs is set to rival that of Kia, with its forthcoming Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line-up of purpose-built electric vans also said to include several sizes, ranging from small to large.

The Renault Trafic E-Tech electric

The fourth-generation model of the highly successful Trafic features contemporary proportions and a one-box design.

It has a short front overhang and extended wheelbase, with wheels positioned at the corners to maximise interior space while maintaining a turning circle equivalent to that of a Renault Clio.

It is less than 1.90 metres tall for easy access to underground car parks. Its overall appearance closely reflects Renault’s new design cues, with flowing, structured lines.

The Renault Goelette E-Tech electric

A historic Renault LCV, the Goelette was on the road for 10 years from 1956. Now, the Goelette E-Tech electric will be available in three versions: chassis cab, box and tipper, paving the way for a wide choice of conversions.

The rear section has no specific equipment, as it has been designed for a range of fittings and customised features, with structural parts able to accommodate a box or other configurations tailored to specific user requirements. It will also be available with or without a running board.

The Renault Estafette E-Tech electric

The Estafette E-Tech electric is a contemporary reboot of Renault’s 1960s van. It is 5.27 metres long, 1.92 metres wide, and 2.60 metres high, allowing for easy movement between the cockpit and cargo area.

It features a large three-piece panoramic windscreen for greater visibility. Running boards on both sides make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, for more ergonomic use. At the rear, a single-piece roller shutter door optimises the load space.
