Corrib Oil reveals major expansion over next five years

Service station and energy company Corrib Oil has announced plans to more than double its nationwide store presence to 100 by 2030.

The company, founded in Claremorris, Co. Mayo in 1987, and head-quartered in Galway City, said it will deliver at least four new service stations this year.

The first of these stores, located on the Model Farm Road in Cork, is set to open this month, creating 30 new jobs.

Corrib’s expansion programme will consist of new site developments and strategic acquisitions.

Recruitment is under way for a variety of roles, ranging from store management and retail positions to opportunities in operations, supply chain, logistics and head office support functions.

Corrib Oil operates in two main sectors – retail and distribution. Corrib Retail, runs 38 convenience stores across 17 counties, all of which operate under the Spar brand through a 25-year partnership with BWG Foods.

Corrib Oil’s forecourts are branded Circle K or Texaco, and the stores host various in-store partners like Insomnia, Apache Pizza, and Subway.

The company has plans to create 1,200 jobs across the country by the year 2030.

The jobs which will be in locations right across Ireland include roles in store management, operations, logistics and head office support.

Wendy’s Deal
Last November, Corrib announced that it had reached an agreement to become the Irish franchise partner for US fast food chain Wendy’s.

The partnership will bring 10 new quick-service restaurants to Ireland over the next two years.

The sites will be a blend of standalone Wendy’s restaurants as well as new Wendy’s offerings at existing Corrib service station locations.

Wendy’s, founded in 1969 and based in Dublin, Ohio, operates more than 7,200 locations worldwide, with 1,200 outside the U.S.

The move into Ireland follows Wendy’s 2021 expansion into the UK, where it has circa 50 locations with a long-term target of 400 outlets.

In addition to Ireland, the chain is eyeing expansion into Northern Ireland, and many other European countries.

Announcing its retail expansion programme, Corrib Oil’s chief executive Eugene Dalton said it reflects the company’s growth strategy.

“We have been growing our retail footprint over recent years, reflecting our firm focus on meeting the fuel, retail and service station needs of communities,” Mr Dalton said.

“This expansion programme fast-tracks that growth further,” he added.
