Toll charges increase again across Ireland

Motorists continue to be hit in the pocket, as toll charges for motorways and the Dublin Port Tunnel once again increased at the start of 2025.

On the M50, there has been a 10 cent increase for cars, buses, coaches and lighter goods vehicles that are not registered with a tag or video account.

There has been no increase for cars with a tag or video account.

On eight roads (M1, M3, M4, M7/M8 ,M8, the N18 Limerick Tunnel and the N25 Waterford) there has been a 10 cent rise for buses, coaches and HGVs, except for the M3 where tolls for HGVs not exceeding 3,500kg remain unchanged.

For cars on these roads, there is no increase except for the M4 Kilcock to Kinnegad where there is another 10 cent increase.

Heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) exceeding 10,000kg with a tag and video account have also seen a 10 cent increase, with a 20 cent rise for unregistered HGVs.

The Dublin Port Tunnel sees an increase of €1 for southbound traffic at peak AM times, rising from €12 to €13.

HGVs continue to have free travel at the tunnel at all times. Remaining Port Tunnel tolls remain unchanged.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said the hikes come after the consumer price index increased by 1.7 per cent between August 2023 to August 2024.
