Commercial vehicle sales remain strong this year – SIMI

Figures released today by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show that LCV, HGV, and bus and coach registrations are all up for the year to date, representing a sign of a positive and strong economy.

New light commercial vehicle (LCV) registrations for the year-to-date are up 6.9 per cent (30,700) on 2023 (28,706), while sales for November 2024 declined by 30 per cent (537) compared to the same month last year (767)).

HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) registrations are down 20 per cent (96) in comparison to November 2023 (120). For the year-to-date this segment is up 8.8 per cent (2,849).

New bus and coach sales are up 28.57 per cent (9) in comparison to November 2023 (7). For the year-to-date this segment is also up 81.7 per cent (576) on 2023 (317).

Ford was the best-selling LCV brand for November 2024 (189), with its Transit the top seller for the month with 68 units registered. This was followed in October by Renault (54), Mercedes-Benz (52), Opel (42) and Iveco (28).

The top-five best selling van brands for the year to date are, in order, Ford, Renault, Volkswagen, Toyota, Opel.
