Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 named International Truck of the Year 2025

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 has been named the International Truck of the Year 2025. It was honoured for the performance of its powertrain, which is based on two 400 kW electric motors on the electric axle and three LFP battery packs of 207 kWh each, enabling a range of more than 500 kilometres without recharging.

The win for Mercedes-Benz marks only the second time in the award’s 48-year history that a zero-emission truck has claimed this title. According to Mercedes-Benz, the eActros 600 for the long-haul is ready and heralds a new era in the transport industry.

With 88 votes, the German truck manufacturer’s heavy-duty battery electric vehicle (BEV) beat competition from Volvo Trucks’ Aero range with electric or conventional powertrains and the Iveco S-eWay electric tractor.

It is worth repeating, as the judges saw for themselves, with over 600 kWh of installed capacity, a standard 40-tonne tractor-semi-trailer combination can achieve a range of over 500 kilometres without intermediate recharging. That is impressive and a game changer.

The IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, also saw the presentation of other International commercial awards, including the International Bus of the Year, International Van of the Year, the Truck Innovation Award, and the International Trailer Award, all honouring outstanding achievements and innovations in the transport and logistics industry.

The MAN hTGX will be available in 6×2 and 6×4 axle configurations, enabling a high payload and maximum ranges of up to 600 kilometres. The hydrogen combustion engine H45 is based on the proven D38 diesel unit and will be produced in the engine and battery plant in Nuremberg.

Renault Master wins International Van of the Year 2025
The new Renault Master has won the title of International Van of the Year 2025. The model impressed the jury with innovative technologies, striking design improvements, and an important step for the area of sustainable mobility.

Its Aerovan design and new multi-energy platform make it the new standard on the market, and the most efficient vehicle in its class, across the ICE, electric and hydrogen line-up.

The award was presented at a ceremony during the IAA Transportation show in Hanover this week.

The Master is Renault’s fifth van to win this award, following Renault Master II (IVOTY 1998), Renault Trafic II (IVOTY 2002), Kangoo Z.E (IVOTY 2012) and Kangoo Van III (IVOTY 2022). And Renault is on a roll, as this comes in addition to the European Car of the Year prize won by Scenic E-Tech electric this February.

Renault says this is “a wonderful reward and a true tribute to all the teams who worked on this project”.

It adds that the new Master is “a perfect example of what has made Renault’s light commercial vehicles amazing for more than 120 years: they are innovative, disruptive, multi-energy and designed to be customised in practically endless ways to meet each of our professional customers’ individual wants and needs”.
