Liqui Moly launches new ‘bag-In-box’ packaging
First revealed earlier this year, Liqui Moly has now launched its new ‘bag-In-box’ packaging, which it says uses 90 per cent less plastic than a 20-litre canister.
According to the lubricants brand, bag-In-box consists of significantly less plastic thanks to recyclable cardboard packaging, while it will also offer more storage space for customers thanks to space-saving, easily stackable dimensions, along with clean and precise pouring thanks to new pouring mechanism with strong odor barrier.
The new packaging made its debut at the recent Automechanika in Frankfurt. The exterior of the new bag-in-box packaging consists of coated, waterproof cardboard. It contains a fully recyclable plastic bag, which uses 90 per cent less plastic than a conventional 20-litre canister.
During the development phase, the brand said a key requirement was that the bag-in-box should fit in the Liqui Moly oil cabinet. “After all, thousands of garages all over the world use this tried-and-tested organisation and storage system and should not have to buy an additional or alternative one,” says Liqui Moly managing director Günter Hiermaier.
Thanks to the integrated drip tray made of galvanised sheet steel, the oil cabinet meets the official requirements for handling water-polluting substances. It can also be locked, which counteracts lubricant loss.
“While a lot of freight space is wasted when transporting empty plastic canisters to our oil production facilities, the same number of folded bag-in-box packages take up a fraction of the space. This makes logistics more efficient,” Hiermaier added.
Even when filled with oil, the new container scores points compared to the pure plastic canister when it comes to the space required on a pallet.
Liqui Moly will be exhibiting at Auto Trade EXPO 2024, which takes place alongside the CV Workshop EXPO at the RDS in Dublin from 12th-13th October.
