Hydrogen Renault Master with 700km range

Renault has today introduced a new Master H2-Tech Prototype van at IAA Hannover in Germany, which it claims has a range of up to 700km and can be fully charged in about five minutes.

Developed by HYVIA, a joint venture between Renault Group and Plug Power dedicated to hydrogen mobility, the new Renault Master will be sold as a hydrogen H2-Tech version in Europe next year, with van, floor cab, chassis cab versions all planned.

This hydrogen-powered variant completes the line-up already featuring electric and ICE models. The Master H2-Tech is duel-powered by a 47kW fuel cell and the 20kWh battery, while a heat recovery system recovers the heat produced by the fuel cell for thermal comfort in the cabin, preserving the vehicle’s range.

“It’s a great source of satisfaction for all HYVIA teams to be able to preview the prototype of the hydrogen version of the new Renault Master, which will be on the road by the end of 2025. This major innovation is the fruit of over three-years’ hard collective work, in partnership with Renault and Plug,” said Nicolas Champetier, CEO of HYVIA.

“HYVIA is thus demonstrating its ability to develop pioneering technologies, while at the same time initiating the deployment of emerging hydrogen ecosystems in Europe. The road ahead is full of challenges, but with passion and commitment, we know that today we are paving the way for the zero-emission mobility of the future, for intensive professional use,” he added.
