BYD reveals electric van for Europe
Auto giant BYD has revealed its entry into the electric 3.5 and 4.25 tonne commercial vehicle segment. BYD presented the E-Vali at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover, an all-electric van that is tailored to the European market.
Two variants will have a battery pack with a capacity of 80.6 kWh, with a claimed range of between 220 to 250 kilometres. According to BYD, this is a proprietary blade battery with LFP chemistry.
For AC charging, the E-Vali has an 11 kW onboard charger, with 22 kW also available as an option. For DC charging it offers a charging capacity of 188 kW, with BYD specifying a time of 30 minutes for charging from 10 to 80 per cent.
BYD also mentioned a payload of 700 to 1,450 kilograms and a top speed of 120km/h. The BYD E-Vali also offers a vehicle to load (V2L) connection with 3kW for charging external devices.
No word on Irish launch dates or pricing as of yet.
BYD ETM6
Elsewhere at the IAA, BYD revealed the 7.5-tonne pure-electric ETM6 truck for the European market. It has a claimed range of up to 200km with a full load, with DC (120 kW) allowing charging from 20 to 100 per cent in one hour.
BYD ETH8
The 19-tonne all-electric ETH8 truck was also revealed at the IAA. It has a multipurpose chassis which BYD says makes it the perfect choice for logistics and sanitation operations, with two wheelbase options for specific needs.
The ETH8 uses a large 255kWh Iron-Phosphate battery with a claimed range of up to 250km. Using a DC charger, the truck can be charged from 20 to 100 per cent within two hours, according to BYD. Max speed is 90km/h, while payload is quoted at just under 11-tonnes.
BYD EYT
Joining the ETM6 and ETH8 at the show was the BYD EYT 2.0, designed for use in European ports, terminals and general distribution.
Up to 75-tonne GCW (Gross Combined Weight) and a working time of up to 16 hours, BYD said the EYT 2.0 is an agile and highly manoeuvrable electric yard tractor. According to BYD, its powerful capabilities effortlessly handle substantial containers and trailers.
