UFI adds oil filter cartridges for Mercedes HDEP engines
UFI Filters has further expanded its aftermarket catalogue with the inclusion of the oil filter cartridge of the module supplied as original equipment for the Heavy Duty Engine Platform – OM471.
This is one of the Daimler Truck Group’s latest engines used for applications on Mercedes-Benz Truck vehicles, in particular on Actros MP5 models with power ratings from 421 to 530 HP.
The module developed by UFI Filters for this engine integrates several functionalities, such as a two-stage thermostatic valve, pressure control valve, by-pass valve, and temperature sensor.
Its filter cartridge is manufactured by an infrared welding process, excluding the use of glues, and using the unique FormulaUFI.Cell filter media made of hydrophobic material. The basis of this material is cellulose, combined with synthetic fibres or glass, and allows for reduced pressure drop and maximised filter life.
According to UFI, this filter offers high filtration performance, keeping its characteristics intact even in the presence of water in the oil and maintaining a high standard of filtration over time. Its high stiffness guarantees high stability even at low temperatures.
Compared to screw-on filters, the ability to replace the filter cartridge alone also significantly reduces the amount of metal waste, and the presence of a patented coupling allows the operator to carry out safer and cleaner maintenance work.
The characteristics of the filter material, combined with the improved lubrication circuit management provided by the UFI Filters oil module for HDEP platform engines, guarantee high filter reliability and the extension of cartridge replacement intervals up to 150,000 kilometres.
The HDEP engine module benefits from the close collaboration between UFI Filters and Daimler Truck Group engineers in the design of the individual components, among which the cartridge’s task is not only to safeguard the engine components, but also to guarantee power delivery, helping to keep oil circuit pressure drops low even under the harshest working conditions.
Finally, thanks to its structure, UFI says the filter is highly resistant in oil circuits subjected to pressures of up to twelve bar, such as those of industrial vehicle engines.
The oil filter cartridge for HDEP engines, available in the UFI catalogue under code 25.206.01, complements UFI Filters’ extensive aftermarket range of filtration solutions.
