Continental wins top accolade at TyreSafe Awards 2024
German tyre manufacturer, Continental, has been named ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at the TyreSafe Awards in the UK.
Judges praised Continental for its leadership across innovation, testing, and research and development – noting the premium manufacturer as a “pioneer in self-supporting ‘runflat’ technology, as well as tyres designed to be able to continue to operate when punctured”.
The annual awards – which took place on 13th June at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham – honoured those dedicated to promoting tyre safety and innovation.
Judges commented on Continental’s “live digital tyre monitoring solution for commercial vehicle fleets, which reduces the risk of larger vehicles suffering catastrophic failure while also minimising fuel use and tyre wear”.
Continental’s concept tyre points were praised for being the “future,” leading to a “further reduction of risk to road users through using sensors in the structure to provide actionable data,” adding that the innovative technology “promises a solution to real-time, in-vehicle alerts of air pressure, condition and tread depth”.
Peter Robb, marketing director (pictured above, centre) said: “Every tyre that leaves our production line reflects our dedication to delivering the best performance, innovation, and safety. Being honoured with this prestigious award means a lot to us and reflects the hard work of our teams.
“This recognition further motivates us to continue developing and advancing our offering to help even more vehicles achieve peak performance.”
TyreSafe is the UK’s charity dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of correct tyre maintenance and the dangers of defective and illegal tyres.
