Bridgestone Ireland trials HVO bio diesel in delivery truck

Bridgestone Ireland has launched a trial of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) bio diesel in one of its tyre delivery vehicles.

The fuel is supplied by Circle K, Bridgestone’s existing fuel supplier in Ireland who claim it can make an immediate and significant contribution to improving an organisation’s sustainable transport operations.

According to Circle K, its miles BIO HVO100 “is a completely fossil-free biofuel made from waste, by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption from the food industry and can be used to power diesel vehicles. HVO alternative diesel offers an up to 90 per cent reduction in carbon emissions over regular diesel”.

“The intention is to trial the fuel over a number of months monitoring the fuel consumption and mileage,” said Colm Conyngham, marketing and public relations manager, Bridgestone Ireland. “We hope to see Circle Ks HVO Diesel used throughout our fleet in the near future, helping to reduce our carbon footprint.”
