Staff shortages continue to have impact on automotive aftermarket
The automotive aftermarket in Ireland continues to report staff shortages in almost every sector, from warehouse staff right through the spectrum to HGV mechanics. One well-known battery distributor in Dublin is experiencing similar difficulties, writes John Loughran.
Founded in 1988, Europower Battery Centre (EBC) is one of the largest independent battery distributors in the Irish market, supplying a wide range of batteries for Automotive, Leisure, Mobility, UPS, Industrial and other specialist applications.
The company’s product portfolio includes world-recognisable OEM brands such as Banner, Trojan, Sonnenschein, MK, Optimate, Lemania and Unibat. Europower has been the official distributor for Banner Batteries in Ireland for more than 30 years and is a Master Distributor for Trojan batteries in Ireland.
The company is currently seeking to recruit a Counter Sales-Warehouse person, but Marketing Manager, Jenny Carroll told CVWorkshop.ie that despite offering good terms and conditions and a competitive salary, Europower Battery Centre has been unable to attract the right candidate for the job.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Goods Inwards / Outwards.
- Preparing orders for delivery or pickup (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
- Dealing with customers at trade counter and handling telephone queries.
- Stock Control
- General Housekeeping of the Warehouse & trade counter area
The ideal candidate should have the following skills & capabilities:
- Previous sales/warehouse experience in the automotive/motor trade industry is an advantage
- Forklift Licence (Desirable not essential)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Strong Organisational & Communication Skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Full clean driving licence essential
- Available to start immediately
