CAB seizes 27 vehicles as part of raids targeting Munster crime group
The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) yesterday seized 27 vehicles and €218,000 in cash, during search operations across five counties in relation to organised criminality through the second hand motor trade.
According to the pictures provided by An Garda Síochána, some of the vehicles seized include a number of Range Rover, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Volkswagen and Skoda models.
The search operation was conducted in counties Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Dublin and Mayo, as part of an ongoing CAB investigation into targets linked to a Munster-based organised crime group.
According to An Garda Síochána, this group is involved in laundering the proceeds of organised criminality through the second hand motor trade, real estate purchases, property developments and the purchase of high value goods.
The operation involved 150 personnel conducting searches at 20 locations across Ireland.
Along with the vehicles and cash, CAB also seized six Rolex watches, five jet-skis, two rigid inflatable boats, designer goods (Louis Vuitton bags), electronic devices and assorted documentation including financial documents, and a quantity of suspected cocaine.
One person was arrested in connection with this seizure of cocaine and they are currently being detained at a Limerick city Garda station.
