Nitrogen plastic welders from Power-Tec

Specialist bodyshop tool and equipment supplier Power-Tec has been selling nitrogen plastic-welding repair to the automotive industry for over seven years now, saying it has been very successful.

Notably, the company has been receiving frequent inquiries from caravan repairers and has tailored a range of nitrogen-welding solutions specifically suited to the caravan trade.

These solutions are capable of repairing both exterior and interior plastic panel work.

The use of hot nitrogen gas in the plastic welding process eliminates plastic oxidisation, resulting in robust welds up to 30 per cent stronger than those produced by standard plastic-welding methods, according to Power-Tec.

This means you achieve a durable, plastic-only repair, which can be further finished and repainted as necessary.

Power-Tec offers the choice of a nitrogen plastic repair kit (complete with hot stapler) that supplies nitrogen from a gas bottle (part number 92446), or kits that feature a nitrogen generator, eliminating the need for a gas bottle — part number 92452, or 92229 (this model includes a hot stapler).

With the nitrogen-generating system, workshop compressed air is used to maintain consistent temperature between welds — the nitrogen is only activated when pulling the trigger so that it’s not wasted between welds.

Power-Tec says these nitrogen plastic-welding systems are versatile, efficient, cost-effective, and user-friendly.

They are particularly well-suited for caravan repairs, significantly reducing repair times, salvaging items that would have otherwise been discarded, ultimately enhancing profitability, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
