Topaz Transport bolsters Volvo Trucks fleet

Carlow-based Topaz Transport has continued its long-standing relationship with Volvo Trucks after taking delivery of a brand-new Volvo FH 540 Globetrotter XL 6×2 tractor unit.

The new truck joins a 32-strong commercial vehicle fleet, of which 28 vehicles are already supplied by Volvo Trucks. The new arrival will be used primarily for container transport.

The new FH is powered by a D13K Euro-6 Step E diesel engine, producing 540 hp and a maximum torque figure of 2,600Nm.

Driving performance is delivered through Volvo’s popular automated 12-speed I-Shift gearbox, which is combined with Volvo’s I-See predictive cruise control system to yield additional sustainability benefits and operational efficiency via active speed management and perfectly timed gearshifts.

The truck’s spacious Globetrotter XL cab benefits from Volvo’s Drive++ package, including electronic air conditioning with a carbon filter and sun, mist and air quality sensors, dual armrests and leather upholstery.

A loyal Volvo Trucks customer, family-run Topaz Transport acquired its first Volvos the same year it was founded in 1999.
