PACCAR Parts building new €85m distribution centre in Germany

PACCAR Parts has commenced construction of a new €85 million parts distribution centre in the German town of Massbach, Bavaria.

The new 22,000 square metre facility will be situated on a 22 hectare site and is set to open in 2024.

Expected to have the capacity to store over 80,000 different parts, the new facility is designed to service DAF dealers throughout Germany, Switzerland and the eastern part of France with shipments and emergency orders delivered within hours.

PACCAR Parts says the Massbach site will utilise technologies such as voice-directed material handling, the most advanced scanning equipment and automated packaging systems to boost order fulfilment.

The company adds that the building will be solar powered, while eco-friendly heat pumps will maintain building temperature all year round.

Electric truck charging facilities will also be installed at the site and the entire fleet of material handling equipment will be electric.
