10 electric Renault trucks for Ikea

Wincanton, a UK supply chain partner, has added 10 new electric trucks from Renault as the part of its contract to provide home delivery services for Ikea.

The multimillion-pound investment will see 10 Renault Trucks E-Tech D16s put into service to support Ikea’s goal of reaching 100 per cent zero emission last mile deliveries by 2025.

Powered by four 66kWh batteries on a 5.3m wheelbase, the trucks have also been fitted with a TVSi box body and Dhollandia tail lift. Included in the deal are 20 electric vans from Ford.

The fully electric vehicles will transport deliveries to customer homes across Greater London and the South East of England. The new 30 vehicle electric fleet is expected to complete just over 10,000 journeys per annum saving Wincanton 1,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Carlos Rodrigues, Managing Director of Renault Trucks UK and Ireland said: “We are delighted that one of the UK’s leading supply chain partners has selected Renault Trucks as part of this hugely significant investment in electric vehicles to provide home delivery services for IKEA.

“As a pioneer of electric mobility and a champion of sustainable transport, Renault Trucks shares Wincanton’s drive for a net zero future, and we look forward to more organisations decarbonising their fleets, acting now in the urgent fight against climate change.”
