Mercedes-Benz is ‘state of the Arc’ for Bim

Commissioned by its client, Ireland’s marine fishing and aquaculture development agency, An Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) – its challenge being to design a truck-sized mobile classroom that would visit primary schools throughout Ireland – Vinehall Displays found the power its creation needed in the heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz Actros 2545L.

Funded by BIM, the company created the ‘Aquaculture Remote Classroom’ – a modern, state-of-the-art ‘classroom on wheels’ appropriately given the acronym ‘ARC’.

Powered by the Actros, ARC’s mission will be to tour Ireland and visit schools, there to raise awareness of aquaculture amongst young people and to share with them knowledge on the cultivation and farming of plants and animals in water.

Bedecked with latest high-tech features, ARC’s educational aids include three 55” surround sound TVs, virtual reality headsets, adaptive LED lighting, and seating for 30 children and their teachers.

Supplied by Naas Road-based Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer, MUTEC, the Actros comes with a Big Space cab, rear steer axle, low frame chassis and air suspension, front and rear. Driver comfort features include a multimedia cockpit, Apple Car Play, climate control, night heater, fridge and sun roof, amongst others.
