Totalkare brake tester bolsters Alltruck’s in-house abilities
Scottish fleet provider Alltruck has bolstered its in-house service, repair and MOT testing capacity after investing in a mobile brake tester from workshop equipment experts Totalkare.
The Falkirk-based fleet hire firm manages over 700 HGV and LCV vehicles across long- and short-term contracts throughout Scotland, supported by 16 mobile service vans providing customer response and assistance.
Alltruck’s custom built five-bay workshop offers a full range of commercial repair services as well as MOT preparation, for which pass rates of 98 per cent or more are routinely achieved.
Now Alltruck has returned to its existing workshop equipment supplier Totalkare to increase its in-house brake testing capacity with a DVSA-approved mobile brake tester, which will allow additional vehicle throughput and enable the firm to capitalise on increased demand at its Falkirk service centre.
Alltruck moved fast to secure the unit which was an ex-demonstration model just returned to stock, resulting in a lower capital expenditure.
Totalkare’s mobile brake tester is a flexible yet reliable solution for any commercial vehicle workshop, testing up to 16,000kg axle load as standard (although this can be upgraded to 20,000kg if required).
Easily manoeuvrable and deployable indoors and even outdoors on uneven ground, the brake tester is supplied with computer, printer, cabinet and handheld tablet that communicates wireless with the computer to enable tests to be conducted from the comfort and safety of the driver seat.
The brake tester will be supported by a Totalkare service contract which includes two engineer visits for service and calibration per year.
David Russell, general manager of Alltruck, commented: “As a service based business, we are continually striving to offer our customers the quickest and most efficient service possible. As such, it’s important to equip our workshop with the right tools for the jobs we do.
“Totalkare’s mobile brake tester ticks all the boxes for us and, with them being an existing supplier, we’re already familiar with the quality of aftersales support they provide.”
