Electric HGVs to deliver 10,000 pints of Carlsberg per day
Carlsberg has acquired two fully electric HGVs in a trial at two of its UK depots which could provide pubs with 10,000 freshly brewed pints in a day.
The two fully electric Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide models, weighing 26 tonnes and 18 tonnes, will be in operation at the brewer’s depots in Cardiff and Thurrock by the end of this month.
With a range of more than 90 miles on a single charge, Carlsberg said the urbanised areas of Cardiff and Essex are ideal routes in its logistics network, which currently includes 270 traditional vehicles.
Carlsberg has also installed charging points at the depots, which will be powered by electricity from renewable sources.
Carlos Rodrigues, managing director of Renault Trucks UK and Ireland, said: “To have one of the UK’s largest brewers make this hugely significant shift to electric vehicles, powered by clean, renewable energy, shows CMBC is acting now to advance the urgent fight against climate change.”
Renault Trucks has a comprehensive range of 100 per cent electric trucks, from 3.1 to 26 tonnes ready for immediate use.
