High demand for first post lockdown REPXPERT Academy training event

Schaeffler today reports that its plans to relaunch its REPXPERT Academy roadshows have been given a major boost, thanks to the “incredible number” of people pre-registering for the first event, which will take place at the new Bridgend College STEAM campus in Pencoed, Wales on Saturday 21st May.

According to Schaeffler, over 200 technicians and garage owners have expressed an interest in attending the event to take advantage of a full day of free training, presented in the concise and informal format which proved so popular when the concept was launched at Lincoln College late in 2019.

Doors open at 09:00, when visitors will check-in and receive their Academy Live training bags, along with obligatory bacon rolls and coffee, before a brief introduction to welcome everybody to the venue and explain how the day will unfold.

Training starts an hour later at 10:00 and consists of four separate sessions of around 45 minutes each. Topics include Schaeffler’s LuK double clutch and INA belt drive systems, plus electric vehicle and workshop business best practice classes hosted by special guests Hayley Pells and Tim Benson respectively.

There are breaks between each session so that delegates can grab refreshments whilst networking in the workshop, which is the focal point of the event. It’s here that visitors can check out the Laser Tools display, talk technical at the REPXPERT training van, chat to the TechMan team, or take a look at the latest technology from braking specialists Brembo and mechatronics experts ACtronics.

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) will also be demonstrating how technicians can make best use of its range of services, whilst representatives from the college will also be on hand to hopefully forge mutually beneficial relationships with local garages.

Schaeffler technical manager, Alistair Mason, said: “Presenting the resources that REPXPERT offers in an informal live format, where attendees can get hands-on with a wide range of products, tools and systems, is obviously what mechanics are looking for – judging by the numbers we have signing up for the Bridgend Academy Live event.”

The Schaeffler team is currently visiting workshops in the South Wales area to raise awareness of the REPXPERT garage support programme, along with its many benefits, in the lead up to the event.

Alistair added: “Knowledge sharing is at the heart of the REPXPERT programme, so whether we’re sharing the idea behind it, the resources it makes available, or the product installation training that is such a major part of it, we will be putting its objectives into practice with garage owners that are looking to ensure the long-term future of their businesses and technicians wanting to improve their skills.”

Information on Schaeffler products, fitting instructions, labour times and much more can be found on the REPXPERT workshop portal – www.repxpert.co.uk – the REPXPERT app, or by calling the Schaeffler REPXPERT hotline on 0872 737 0037.
