Co Down-based Mulgrew Haulage has ordered 200 curtainsiders in a procurement move inspired by Tiger Trailers’ ability to meet exacting specifications.
The haulier has so far taken delivery of 50 of the trailers from Tiger Trailers, all of which have been equipped with a specific load restraint set-up and maximum side aperture for multi-user movements.
Tiger’s sales and engineering teams collaborated closely with director Paul Mulgrew to build an initial prototype trailer. Ferry use comprises a significant number of Mulgrew’s operations, which Tiger was able to provide for with its custom EN 12642 XL-rated curtainsider trailer design.
This includes features such as recessed and protected lighting, underrun positioning and D-buffers to protect from damage, as well as heavy duty and removeable roof cappings and tapered, plated bottoms to the corner pillars that reduce coupling impact.
Darren Holland, sales director of Tiger Trailers, said: “Visiting the customer in Ireland multiple times enabled us to understand their requirements and ensure that Tiger met their specification 100 per cent, building the one-off protype up front to iron out any challenges before commending building the remainder of the 200 ordered.”
Paul Mulgrew added: “Darren and his colleagues certainly lived up to Tiger’s customer-first way of building trailers and his repeated visits to see our operations and understand our requirements first hand have resulted in new trailers that we are very happy with.”
The trailers are pulled by a fleet of more than 200 truck tractor units, mainly from Scania.
