Electric vehicle maker Rivian, which is backed by Amazon, is scouting locations in Europe to build a new factory, Bloomberg has reported.
Bloomberg’s sources said the site would likely first produce a delivery van for Amazon and soon after build Rivian’s models for consumers.
It said locations such as the UK, Germany and Hungary are under consideration for the EV site.
Amazon ordered 100,000 electric delivery vans from Rivian at the end of 2019, with around 10,000 of those expected to be rolled out on roads globally in 2022.
The California-based company, which was founded in 2009 by R.J. Scaringe, is due to start production and US deliveries of a pickup model in June, followed by an SUV in August.
