A new driving test centre is set to be open in Drogheda, which will cater for Category B (car/light van) tests.
Opening next Monday, February 22, the new centre will be temporarily located at Drogheda Town Football Club in Marian Park.
Road Safety Authority (RSA) CEO Sam Waide said that “the siting of the driving test centre in Drogheda Town Football Club would be a temporary move while the RSA looks for a longer-term solution.”
He also added that its decision to open a new test centre in Drogheda was in recognition of the demand for driving tests from such a large urban location
This brings the number of driving test centres in Ireland to 52. The new Drogheda location will have capacity for two driver testers.
The Minister of State in the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton TD confirmed that the RSA has also received approval to hire 40 new driver testers on a temporary basis, to help tackle the backlog of those waiting for a test nationwide.
