The Tire Industry Project (TIP) is the leading forum for the tyre industry on sustainability issues. Marking our 15th anniversary, it is sharing, free-of-charge, their scientific research on tyre and road wear particles (TRWP). It foregoing the fees often required to review scientific papers.
Peer-reviewed studies from more than a decade of research into TRWP – the tiny debris produced by necessary friction between tyres and road surface, are now available free-of-charge online.
By sharing these studies, TIP hopes to reach stakeholders who may have previously been discouraged by paywalls.
TIP tells us that it is committed to making important contribution to the scientific understanding of TRWP and its potential impacts on human health and the environment.
The Tire Industry Project has been supporting research into tire and road wear particles since 2005. In 2020, to mark the 15th Anniversary of the Tire Industry Project, TIP made most of its peer reviewed research available free of charge, and will aim to do so for all future studies into TRWP. It has not been possible to make some of the earlier TIP studies open access – copies of these studies can be requested from the study authors. Check it all out here.
