Face masks to be made compulsory on public transport

Face masks are set to be made compulsory during use of all forms of public transport in Ireland.

Minister for Transport Shane Ross is bringing a memo to cabinet today that would require all passengers on public transport to wear face coverings or masks from next week.

Phase 3 of the government’s roadmap to reopening the economy is set to go ahead on Monday, June 29, which includes an increase in public transport services.

There have now been 25,396 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland according to latest government figures.
