The biggest pure-electric city bus fleet outside of China has started operation in the Chilean capital of Santiago.
Latin America’s first electric bus corridor is serviced by 386 all-electric buses – 285 of which are manufactured by BYD.
The opening ceremony was attended by Chilean President Piñera, who said: “We are taking this great leap forward and into the future. This new public transportation system will allow us to improve the quality of life of all inhabitants.”
It really does highlight how far behind we are here in Ireland with green public transport.
