New tech helps company deliver fuel savings

A combination of more fuel-efficient trucks and the introduction of new telematics has helped Sheard Packaging improve fuel efficiency by 20 per cent, recent figures show.

The Halifax-based packaging and waste management company added a dozen Renault Range T460 tractor units fitted with an Optifleet telematics tool earlier this year.

And according to John Leonard, Transport Manager at Sheard Packaging, the combination has delivered huge improvements.

He said, “Optifleet has given me the ability to recognise ways to make huge cost savings and I can also cost individual runs very accurately, budgeting down to the nearest pound.”
