BOC aims for cleaner future with bioLNG
One of the UK and Ireland’s biggest industrial gas companies, BOC is offering HGV fleets a chance to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 95 per cent.
As an established leader in clean fuel technologies, BOC has introduced BioLNG as the latest addition to its clean fuels portfolio. BioLNG is a sustainable version of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) produced by the anaerobic digestion of organic waste.
BOC says that with BioLNG, the CO2 savings compared to diesel are considerably increased and by unlocking such savings, will bring significant benefits to HGV operators currently challenged by the Government to reduce its CO2 emissions by six per cent by 2020. By moving to BioLNG, the CO2 savings of up to 20 per cent created by LNG can be boosted to as much as 95 per cent.
Vehicles will continue to be supplied with LNG in the usual way and an equal quantity of biomethane will be injected into the UK Gas Grid to balance the quantity used for vehicle refuelling.
BOC purchases LNG from Avonmouth in the UK and across Europe and uses its dedicated distribution fleet to deliver to its customers throughout the UK.
