A range of additional new body styles and derivatives have joined the new Volkswagen Crafter line-up, helping complete the brand’s newest model range.
Among the new models are panel vans with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive powertrains and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Critically, the expansion of the range allows for Volkswagen to compete in the up-to 5.0-tonne GVW market.
Volkswagen has also introduced open body models to the line-up in single and double cab mode, which opens the range up further to Volkswagen’s Recognised Converter scheme, meaning customers in the market for a Luton, dropside, tipper or other more unusual adaptation have access to a base vehicle.
Further derivatives will continue to join the line-up in 2018, including a 122 PS engine which will join the current 102, 140 and 177 PS powertrain options.
All Crafters should come as standard with autonomous emergency braking and automatic post-collision braking systems – a first in the van sector. Cross wind assist (for closed bodies) and a driver alert system should also be standard.
