Cummins, the manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines, recently unveiled a new prototype electric truck. It has now gone further towards electrification by acquiring Brammo, which develops electric drivetrains and battery packs.
Brammo was founded in 2002 to build electric motorcycles. In 2015, it sold that division of the business, and focused on making battery packs and electric drivetrains for other EV projects. It made high-profile news recently by developing a 1,100-pound battery pack for for an electric helicopter.
The acquisition of Brammo gives a clear indication that Cummins has plans to turn electric trucks from concepts to reality.
