Redditch United Football Club played host to a successful evening of networking, food and football, as sponsors Trico and Comline invited dozens of guests to watch the home game against Slough Town on Tuesday night.
Guests were treated to a tour of The Trico Stadium before the match, as well as learning about the history of the West Midlands club and meeting former Premier League footballer and first-team manager, Darren Byfield.
This was then followed by an evening of socialising, with visitors tasting the new Comline Burger and Trico’s well-publicised ‘Brew 17’ beer, which was unveiled at the game.
There were also two Ginetta racing cars on display, which were decorated in Trico livery. Intrigued spectators were able to get up-close-and-personal with the racing machines and have their photos taken beside them.
As the floodlights beamed over the pitch, The Reds were just as bright on it, as striker Dior Angus gave Redditch an early lead. However, despite the positive start, Slough hit back strongly with two goals from Chris Flood and Manny Williams as the first-half came to a close.
The second half proved a tough one, as Slough continued to assert their dominance from the end of the first 45 minutes. Flood scored his second of the night, while Warren Harris slotted in a fourth to round-off a 4-1 victory for The Rebels.
Despite a disappointing defeat for The Reds, spirits were not dampened, as the club celebrated its highest attendance of the season so far, and the fans created a positive and loud atmosphere throughout.

Rounding off the evening was Redditch United Chairman, Chris Swan, paid tribute to both Trico and Comline: “I have been involved in business for a long time and since taking over Redditch United, I have shown 100% commitment to the club. A total of £1 million has been spent on improving the stadium, and I have also worked tirelessly to turn this club around. Our sponsors Trico and Comline have been fantastic in showing their commitment to the club, and it is an honour that companies of such high-calibre are involved with this club.”
